On September 1, 2015, the Tooele Education Foundation hosted a reception for the principals of all TCSD schools to distribute money from the Partners for Prevention School Climate Transformation Mini Grant. This grant was created in partnership with TEF, TCSD, Tooele City Communities that Care, and Energy Solutions to provide schools with a way to help fund programs directed at improving student behavior. At the event, TEF Executive Director Ed Dalton, Tooele City Mayor Pat Dunlavy, and Superintendent Scott Rogers presented $680 to each of the 25 principals in TCSD, for a grant total of $17,000.
Kara Anderson, TCSD Safe Schools Coordinator said: “Whether it takes a village to raise a child or not, we are proud that our community takes that approach! We are grateful for our partnership with the Education Foundation and generous donations from Energy Solutions and Tooele City Communities that Care. Our schools are doing an excellent job creating safe and supportive environments where students succeed. These additional resources will allow us to expand and enhance our efforts.”
Also in attendance were Maresa Manzione and Carol Jensen from the TCSD Board. The grant money from the event will benefit all students in TCSD as well as their families and the community.
