  • Classes are for ages 10-14 unless otherwise noted in the class description. Registration link (and QR Code) above is for all classes. Use the drop – down menu to pick your specific class date and time (AM or PM).
  • Class registration covers bus transportation, lunch, snacks and water, class T-shirt, materials and supplies, and cost of instruction.
  • Please print and complete the Parent Consent and Permission Form.
  • Students will not be allowed to board the bus without a signed permission form.
  • Unless otherwise specified, classes are morning sessions, running from 8:15 am (bus departs TBD TCSD Location) to 1:00 pm (bus arrives back at TBD TCSD Location).
  • All PM Sessions begin at 12:00 pm (bus departs TBD TCSD Location) and end at 4:30 pm (bus arrives back at TBD TCSD Location)

Outdoor Wildlife Drawing
June 10th
Participants will learn to see and render composition, texture, perspective, and light as they develop and draw their own interpretations of wildlife in the majestic Ophir outdoors. This class is for ages 10-14. Materials and supplies included in cost of registration
Outdoor Photography
July 17th
This class is for ages 10-14. Students will spend their time in the field exploring subjects and focusing on the elements of basic photography. They will be given a Walmart gift card to print some of their photos, if desired.
*** Students are required to bring their own camera, or cell phone, to participate in this class.
Ropes Challenge Course
June 3rd, 6th, 13th, July 3rd, 18th, 22nd
This class is for students aged 10-14 years.
Tooele Education Foundation’s ropes challenge course offers students, and other participants, an incredible opportunity to enhance confidence and develop team-building skills in a fun, educational way!
The course is a collection of 22 various elements constructed mainly of wooden poles, cables, and apparatuses that provide participants with a challenging climbing experience strengthening one’s mind and body.
Beginning Judo
July 29th
Judo is an unarmed modern Japanese martial art, combat sport, Olympic sport, and the most prominent form of jacket wrestling. Judo includes a variety of rolls, falls, throws, hold downs, and strikes. The primary focus is on nage-waza (throwing) and ne-waza (groundwork). If this kind of activity interests you, come join local sensei, Luis Gonzalez for an interesting morning at the Ophir Canyon Education Center.
Mountain Biking
June 17th (AM & PM)
Emphasis is on learning the essential basic skills needed to get you off and rolling. This class is for ages 10-14.
*** Bikes and helmets are provided for use in this class. Students will not get to keep bikes, and the option to purchase the bike is not available.
Rock Climbing
June 18th (AM & PM), June 19th (AM & PM)
This class supports beginning and intermediate climbers as they learn and practice the technical aspects of this thrilling sport. The climbing activity takes place in the beautiful Ophir Canyon and is offered to students ages 10-14.
Archery
June 12th (AM & PM)
Ready…Aim…Fire! This class is targeted to students desiring to learn the basic elements of this engaging lifetime sport. This class is for ages 10-14.
This is one of our most popular classes and is sure to sell out quickly.
Fly-Tying
July 2nd
Here is a class for anyone who would like to learn more about tying flies that can be used for fishing! Students will engage in the process of producing an artificial fly that anglers use to catch fish. Fly-tying is a manual process done by a single individual using hand tools and a variety of natural and manmade materials that are attached to a hook. Come join local angler Joe Anderson for a great learning experience.
Frisbee Golf and Aerodynamics
July 12th
This class is targeted to students desiring to learn the basic elements of aerodynamics and the principles of frisbee flight. Students will be given the chance to play some engaging games of frisbee golf! This class is for ages 10-14.
Rocketry & Flight Principles
July 10th
Have you ever wondered what it takes to get a rocket to fly through the air? This class will be all about designing, building, and launching rockets. This class is for ages 10-14.
Drones
July 8th (AM & PM)
Learn principles of flight, how to maneuver and maintain a drone, and what opportunities (from hobby to career) drones may offer. This is a beginner level class offering. This class is for ages 10-14.

Wood Carving For Beginners
July 23rd
Ever wondered how to make beautiful carvings out of wood? If so, come spend time at the Ophir Canyon Education Center with local wood carver, Ron Clements! You will learn and practice some basic wood carving techniques like carving with the grain, making push and pull cuts, using a v-gouge to create lines, and carving in the round.
Watercolor Painting
July 9th
A fun painting class for young students, introducing the joys of plein air (outdoor) watercolor painting. Learn technique and enjoy the beautiful mountain setting as a backdrop for inspiration. All materials are provided. The class is taught by Ruth Nichols, an art educator in the Tooele School District and professional watercolorist. This class is for ages 10-14.

Leatherworking
July 15th
Learn the art of leatherwork: Leather crafting is the practice of making leather into craft objects or works of art. Leatherworking, using shaping techniques, coloring techniques or both. Students will learn about leatherwork from local educator, Stephen Sagers, and work on a project of their own. This class is for ages 10-14.
Stop Motion Animation
July 30th
Stop-Motion Digital Animation: Participants in this class will use their creativity, and iPads, to bring an animated short film to life! Stop-Motion Animation: Come join Kerri Hopkins, ArtsBridge Director, from the University of Utah and spend the day learning some basics of innovative technology. This class is for ages 10-14.
